The 4th of July. A very controversial holiday for those of us who are plant-based vegan/vegetarian and social expectations of grilling meat can make some of us feel left out or not welcome.
-
This year, lets break the cycle and join in on the festivities or create our own! Being plant-based on the 4th can be fun, delicious, and informing for those around you. Not only are there many plant-based meat alternatives to throw on the grill, but there are numerous vegan options for desserts and drinks as well. A tasty vegan/vegetarian dish is a great addition to any cookout.

Say no to fireworks! I know most of us have enjoyed the eye-popping visual effects of fireworks at one time, but this Independence day we urge you to find other ways to celebrate. Fireworks cause land air and water pollution, wildfires, bodily harm, and also traumatize wildlife as well as many people's companion pets.
     -
The shock of fireworks can cause wildlife to flee, ending up in unexpected areas or roadways, flying into buildings and other obstacles, even abandoning nests leaving young vulnerable to predators. Many animal lives sadly become lost. They may also suffer devastating or even fatal health effects from the stress.
Protect our ecosystem, and always be responsible with fireworks if you must use them.
